Alicia Adamerovich’s work studies the anthropomorphic nature of objects, sensations and emotions, and highlights their creative potential. Drawing from the unconscious, the artist explores the inner self through vivid landscapes of abstract shapes interacting with each other in subtle ways.
Working in the lineage of artists such as Kay Sage and Yves Tanguy, Adamerovich gives life to the inanimate, staging surreal scenes populated with phantasmagorical structures set within infinite, atemporal horizons - beyond our reach yet uncannily reminiscent of our tangible world.
At times organic and soft, sharp and brittle, the shapes in her work map the artist’s psychic evolution, embedding thought within matter. The interplay of light and shadow confers to her scenes a dramatic aura, underpinning the tension between the subjective and objective realms, reality and illusion permeating her work.
